It is important that waste does not create any environmental problems and that it is dealt with in accordance with the law. At SBT Skips we take our responsibility for managing waste seriously.
Any waste has to be taken by someone who is licensed and authorised by the Environment Agency. SBT Skips has the appropriate waste carrier and waste management licenses. Waste must go to a licensed waste transfer station or landfill site, to ensure the correct recycling and disposal.
It is a requirement that the waste is accompanied by a transfer note, this is a description of the waste being transported. All customers are given a copy of the transfer note as part of our process. The transfer note will include…
- The name and address of the producer of waste, namely the customer.
- The registered carrier of the waste – this will be SBT Skips.
- Where the waste is being delivered to and a description of the waste and container being used to transport.
- The transfer note is to be signed and kept for at least 2 years.
For the protection of our customers, if an individual or company offer to take your waste without issuing a transfer note they will be acting illegally and involving you in potentially fly tipping your waste, which could result in you being prosecuted.
All households and businesses (producers of waste) in England have a responsibility to ensure their waste is passed on to authorised and regulated carriers only. Those not taking reasonable measures, can face hefty fines. There are a growing number of rouge waste disposal operators breaking the law. If illegally dumped waste can be traced back to an individual or business, then that individual/business can now be responsible and face a penalty.
At SBT Skips we have invested not only in our facilities but we have also ensured that all our operation is fully licensed.
